This week brings the end of October and the beginning of November, which basically means the holiday season is upon us, right? Okay maybe we’re being a little premature, but before you know it you’ll be sitting around the table giving thanks and looking at the flyers to see what everyone wants for this year’s holiday gifts! With that being said, it’s always a good idea to plan ahead when it comes to the holiday season. November and December are always super busy, so getting ahead is a great idea! That’s why this week we are here to help all of our readers who will be hitting the road this holiday season! Below you will see our ultimate checklist to help you make sure your vehicle is road trip ready! And even if it’s too early to start preparing for it’s always good to have it in the back of your mind!  What are you waiting for? take a peek below!

Need to service your Mercedes-Benz before you hit the road this season? Don’t stress, whether your repair is big or small, our team has the skills to get it back into tip-top shape in no time! All you have to do is head over to our service scheduler and schedule an appointment whenever it is most convenient for you! It’s that easy! Before you know it our team will have you back on the road ready to take on whatever winter throws at it!

Get The Right Tunes

  • Road trip rule #1, don’t rely on the radio
  • The radio goes in and out in different spots and the same songs will get old quickly
  • Prepare ahead of time and make a playlist has a little of everyone’s favorites to keep the ride entertaining
  • Go ahead, feel free to throw in some holiday tunes to get everyone in the holiday spirits

Keep The Kids Entertained With Kits For The Kids

  • Few things are better than surprises when you’re a kid. So stash some road trip kits to break out when they’re getting restless
  • Include little goodie bags filled with stickers, coloring books, crayons, or anything you think could keep your little one entertained

Stock Up On The Essentials

  • Depending on how long your ride is, be sure to pack snacks, water, medicine, and plastic bags for trash
  • Other crucial items? A full tank of gas, a phone charger, a first aid kit, and a few blankets.

Make Sure Your Ride Is Road Trip Ready

  • It’s important that you service your vehicle if it has not yet been
  • Driving in the winter months means you could find yourself running into a mix of weather conditions. Making sure your vehicle is in tip-top shape is crucial to your vehicle’s performance and your safety

It’s All About The Journey

  • The holidays are a time to spend with the family but with November and December being so busy you might find that you’re spending less time with them. Instead of bee-lining to your destination, enjoy the journey and maybe stop at some attractions along the way. Create those memories!

Let The Kiddos Have Some Screen Time

  • No parent is comfortable letting their kids stare into a screen for hours at a time, but it might be a good idea to let up on the screen time restriction to help keep your ride a little more peaceful. It’s always a good idea to have them play learning games or watch an educational show!

Have An Arsenal Of Games Ready To Go

  • No road trip is complete without family car games, so be sure to jot down a list of age-appropriate games before you get going.
  • It’s a good idea to spread them out so that you don’t run out of games too quickly
  • We suggest playing one at the beginning to get them excited for the trip, then once they start getting antsy, and then periodically
  • Having small prizes for the winner is always a fun way to get them into a game

Make Sure Your Ride Is Nice And Tidy Before Leaving

  • It’s important that your vehicle is tidy and organized when hitting the road. You want to know where everything is and be able to access it easily as needed

Prepare For Toll Booths

  • If you don’t have an EZ-Pass, be sure to have your money prepared for tolls
  • You don’t want to be that person fumbling around at the booth, plus it helps on time to hand over the cash and go

Make Plans, But Don’t Worry About Sticking To Them

  • It’s no secret that you’re going to need to stop for bathroom breaks, food, stretch, etc.
  • If you’re planning your trip down to the minute you’ll find yourself stressing for no reason. Stay flexible and don’t stress if you fall behind on time a little bit
An exceptional driving experience is nothing new when you slip behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, but to ensure that you don’t miss a beat even when the weather conditions are less than ideal, it is important to make sure that your vehicle’s tires are in tip-top shape. The condition of your tires is crucial to your vehicle’s performance and you and your passenger’s safety. Your tires have the job of providing grip on the road so that you don’t slip and slide right off. A lot of factors play into the condition of your tires, which include age, tread depth, tire pressure, and any previous damage. Below you can see how to check your tires for all of the above conditions. If you find that it’s time to replace your tires be sure to schedule a service appointment and allow our team of certified professionals to match you with the right tires for your vehicle and have them replaced in no time! Be sure to check out our service specials to see if you can save big on any fall service your vehicle needs!

Checking Your Tire’s Condition & Age:

  • Look at the tread and sidewalls for any cuts, scrapes, punctures, bulges, bumps or cracks. If you see anything suspicious, have a tire service professional take a closer look.
  • You also want to keep an eye on your tire’s age. Depending on how much you drive, your tire’s tread may last for years but just because the tread is not worn out does not mean that your tires don’t need to be replaced
  • To determine your tire’s age just look at the DOT stamping on the sidewall
  • At the end of the DOT stamp, there is a four-digit code that will tell you when the tire was manufactured.
  • Example: A code that looks like 4719 means the tire was manufactured in the 47th week of 2019.

Checking Your Tire Depth:

  • Evaluate the tread depth of your tires to make sure you have enough traction to grip the road
  • An easy way to check you tire depth is with the Penny Test
  • Just place a penny upside down in your tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, it may be time for new tires.

Checking Your Tire Pressure:

  • Use a tire pressure gauge to make sure your tires are properly inflated and then fill your tires with air as needed
  • Your owners manual will have the proper PSI for your tires
  •  To check your pressure, remove the valve stem cap, press the gauge head evenly onto the valve stem, use firm pressure so that the hissing sound stops
  • Remove the gauge and read the pressure adjust as needed

Here at Mercedes-Benz of Danbury, we aim to provide our customers with 100% customer satisfaction every time they walk through the door. Whether you’re stopping in to service your vehicle, speak with our finance department, or to test drive a new Mercedes-Benz, we want you to walk out happier than when you walked in. We understand this is a big challenge to take on, but it’s part of the reason why our customers get to Experience The Difference with us. However, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish the big task of complete satisfaction without the continuous handwork our team puts forward. We don’t want their hard work to go unnoticed, which is why we are so excited to announce our Employee Of The Month Program!

Our Employee of the Month program is designed to give recognition to our employees who have not only performed well but have stood out to their fellow employees! Yup, you heard that right, the best part about our new program is that the employees are nominated solely by fellow employees and not by the management staff. Which means there’s no favoritism, biases, or choices based on sales, it is purely on how the employee’s peers view their hard work.

So are you guys ready to meet Mercedes-Benz of Danbury’s first-ever Employee Of The Month? Without further ado, congratulations Chris Pinto!
