Step 1: Wash your car You’ll need  a bucket, car wash solution, microfiber towel (or mitt), soft-bristled brush, and a water hose Washing a car on a regular basis helps keep it free of dirt, debris, and gritty residue that can accumulate over time tart washing your car from the roof of the vehicle and work your way down to the bottom of the vehicle Use a soft-bristled brush, in small, circular motions, to remove more stubborn stains and grease. The ideal car-washing method is to soap up and wash an area, followed by a quick rinse, before moving on. After drying your car to remove the majority of the moisture, allow it to air dry completely before proceeding to the detailing phase Part 3: Detail your car You’ll need a clay bar, compound, glaze, microfiber towels, and polish Don't forget to clean and shine your tires, which are one of the most overlooked areas of a vehicle. Part 4: Wax your vehicle: You’ll need a car buffer, car wax, polisher, microfiber towels. Paint conditioner Apply wax using a microfiber towel or a clean buffing pad using the car buffer. Proceed with applying the wax a section at a time, allowing the wax to set before removal. Take a microfiber cloth and use circular motions with the buffer to rub in the wax. Repeat this process until you have waxed the entire surface of the vehicle.

Driving in heavy rain: Turn your headlights on – the Highway Code says you must use them when visibility is seriously reduced Use fog lights if you like, but switch them off when visibility improves. Leave twice as much space between you and the car in front – it takes longer to stop in the wet. If your steering feels light due to hydroplaning, ease off the accelerator and slow down gradually. If you break down don't prop the bonnet open while you wait. Rain-soaked electrics can make it harder to start the engine. Driving during floods and standing water Try to avoid standing water if you can. Don't drive into flood water that’s moving or more than 4 inches deep. Let approaching cars pass first if you are unsure of the depth Drive slowly and steadily so you don’t make a bow wave. Test your brakes as soon as you can afterward. Water can have a damaging effect on brakes, make sure they are working properly before you continue to drive Fast-moving water is very powerful: if strong enough your car could be swept away. Find an alternate route if the water is moving too fast to pass-through Watch out for: Look out for slip and trip hazards like curbs under the water. Manhole covers can get lifted and moved. Things are getting a little chilly here at Mercedes-Benz of Danbury! But, we still need to prepare our vehicles for whatever we may encounter and one service that is frequently overlooked is the tread on your tires. Don’t worry - we all do it, we’re all guilty of it but this week we want to teach you how to check from the comfort of your very own driveway! So, check that out below and let us know if we can be of assistance to you and your tires! You should be monitoring your tread depth closely once it reaches 4/32 inches deep. Wait a minute… what do these measurements mean in the first place? We have you covered there. Below, you will see when your tires still have good tread, when you’ll need to replace them soon, and when you probably should have already replaced them. 4/32” or deeper = good tread 3/32” = replace tires soon 2/32” = replace tires now Okay, but are you supposed to measure that tread? We have you covered there with a few, simple ways to check that treat, and seriously you won’t need anything more than some loose change! The penny test: Insert a penny into your tire’s tread groove with Lincoln’s head upside down into the tread facing toward you. If you can see all of the head, your tread depth is less than 2/32” and it is time to replace your tires. The quarter test: do the same test with a quarter and if the tread reaches Washington’s head, you have at least 4/32” of tread remaining. This means that your tires are still in good shape! No need to worry! No change? No problem! Take a look at your tread wear indicator bar that is molded into the tread of your tires. Bars are located at the bottom of tread grooves in multiple locations; when these bars are visibly flush with the adjacent ribs, your tire has no more than 2/32” of tread left. If you see this, it’s definitely time to replace those tires as soon as possible. So come see our team today!

The cold temperatures can be harsh on our vehicles, and giving them a little TLC during this time can go a long way! So this week we are going to help you check your Mercedes-Benz’s oil to see if it’s time for changing. Below are step by step instructions. However, if your oil needs to be changed and you need assistance, head over to our site and schedule an appointment now! Checking Oil: How To Open the hood. Prop it so it stays open. Locate the oil dipstick next to the engine. It should have a yellow handle and/or be labeled. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it on a clean cloth or paper towel. Dip the stick all the way back in. Pull it out again and look at the oil level. If it’s in the middle of the hatched/indicated area, you’re good. More is better, less is okay, but if you’re lower than the recommended amount you’ll need to get your oil topped up and have your system checked for leaks. Look at the oil quality and color. If there are a lot of particles or if the oil looks sludgy, you need to get it changed as soon as possible. Put the dipstick back in. Close your hood.
