Get Your Mercedes-Benz Organized In 2021! | Danbury, CT

Hello, 2021! As we get back into the flow of normal life after the holiday season, it’s also important to set resolutions for ourselves in the new year. A simple resolution for you to follow is staying more organized, which is important as a car driver. I know, you’re probably thinking ‘how does staying organized help you be a better driver?’ Well, many of us can relate when I say my car is my closet on wheels. We spend a lot of time behind the wheel, and our stuff tends to as well. It’s important to get your vehicle organized, not only to declutter your car for space and passengers but safety too! So, take a peek below and see how in just 4 easy steps you can get your Mercedes-Benz organized and ready for whatever 2021 has in store! And if you need help with any winter service or repairs, be sure to schedule your service appointment, now at Mercedes-Benz of Danbury! Step 1: Sort and clean Take everything out of the car, including car seats, music, and miscellaneous items stored in the glove box and door pockets. Don't forget the trunk and cargo area! Organize the rest of the items into three piles: stuff you use all the time, things you use occasionally, and items you might need in an emergency. Whatever doesn't fall into these categories should be stored in your home or garage. Step 2: Analyze Ask yourself, "How do I use my car?" Are you the taxi driver? Maybe you’re a parent with two toddlers in car seats or a salesman who travels with a trunkload of samples. Whatever it is, figure it out. Step 3: Prioritize Depending upon your needs, go through your three piles and prioritize the most important items in each group And just like seasonal clothes in a closet, many items such as ice scrapers and emergency kits should be stored back in your vehicle Step 4: Contain your needs Loose objects in the car lead to disorganization and mess. In the event of a sudden stop or a crash, they can also damage your car or, worse, injure your occupants. Get yourself a good organizer to keep all of your items concise and easy to access. Keep The Good Times Rolling With The Penny Tire Test | Danbury, CT

Rumor has it that a big snowstorm could be coming our way very soon, which there really is no better time than NOW, to get your Mercedes-Benz into tip-top shape for the winter weather. The MVP of your winter driving performance is your tires. Making sure the tread on your tires is always important, especially during the winter months. If you’re driving on snow, ice, slush, etc, without tread, you’re basically driving with no traction...aka the thing that keeps you from sliding off the road. So, if you haven’t done so, it’s time to check your tire traction. Don’t know much about cars? No problem, we have a super simple way to check your tires and all you need is a penny! Below see how to conduct the penny test, and see if it’s time for new tires. If you find it’s time for new tires, head to our tire shop to find the perfect match for your Mercedes-Benz and schedule a service appointment today at Mercedes-Benz of Wappingers Falls! The Penny Test The idea of the penny test is to check whether you’ve hit the 2/32” threshold Place a penny between the tread ribs on your tire. Turn the penny so that Lincoln’s head points down into the tread. See if the top of his head disappears between the ribs. If it does, your tread is still above 2/32” If you can see his entire head, it may be time to replace the tire because your tread is no longer deep enough. Helpful Numbers To Remember: 4/32” or deeper = Good depth 3/32” = Replace tires soon 2/32” or less = Replace tires now Find The Right Tires For Your Mercedes-Benz!

12 Accessories You Should Keep In your Mercedes-Benz This Winter | Danbury, CT

Winter is right around the corner and making sure your vehicle is ready for whatever thrown at you is extremely important. Yes, we highly suggest stopping in for a tune-up to ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape, but this week we are talking about other ways to get your vehicle ready for winter. Below you will find our list of must-have accessories in your vehicles for those what-if moments. So take a peek below and start filling your trunk with the items you’ll need most! And as always, if you need assistance with your vehicle, please schedule an appointment today and the pros here at Mercedes-Benz of Danbury would be happy to help! Must-Have Winter Accessories: Ice scraper and snow brush With winter right around the corner, it’s crucial to have a sturdy ice scraper and snow brush in your vehicle. Whether you’re leaving work, the mall, the grocery store, etc, snow can obstruct your view, and just using your wipers to clear your view can be dangerous for other drivers when the snow flies off at them. Small/Collapsible shovel Keeping a small or collapsible shovel in your truck can be a lifesaver if you find your vehicle stuck in the snow or if you have to clear a path to drive Gloves, hats, scarves, etc. You have the snow brush and shovel, but now you need to actually use them. Having extra gloves will be a lifesaver when you have to brush off your vehicle, pump gas, or even change a tire! Blanket Doesn’t everybody have extra blankets lying around at home? Just me? Well, if you have an extra blanket, throw it in your trunk in case you find yourself in an accident having to stand outside, or experience a breakdown in colder temperatures. Emergency flares or reflectors Finding yourself stuck in the snow? Ensure other vehicles can see you with emergency flares or reflectors Rock salt Stuck in the snow? Did ice form around your tires? Gain traction with rock salt, sand, or kitty litter! Spread the material near your tires and in your car’s path to get out of a slippery situation. First aid kit This is an all-year-round necessity, but it’s always good to replenish what you need in your first aid kit Whether your passenger has a small cut or you’re in an accident and need to be bandaged up, a first aid kit is crucial to this list Extra windshield washer fluid Make sure your windshield washer fluid has antifreeze components to prevent it from freezing. Clearing your windshield with fluid will improve visibility in a winter storm. Flashlight We all know it gets dark very early during the winter months. Having a flashlight in your trunk is always a good idea. Whether you need it for maintenance purposes or even to feel safer when walking to and from your vehicle. Jumper cables Cold weather can affect a car’s battery. You can’t start your car if the battery’s dead, which means you won’t be able to use the car’s heater for warmth. Waiting for a jump start in the cold is not fun. You won’t have to wait as long if you have jumper cables with you. Cell phone charger It’s always important to keep your phone charged before hitting the road but with maps, music, and more, your battery can die quickly Keep your phone charged up in case you need to make a call for assistance or need your maps for directions Water and non-perishable snacks Breakdowns are never fun and sometimes happen in the worst place. This means if you find yourself stranded, waiting for a tow truck and it might be a while before you get help, having a snack to hold you over is always helpful Schedule Your Fall Service Now!

Get Your Tires In Tip-Top Shape This Fall | Danbury CT

An exceptional driving experience is nothing new when you slip behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, but to ensure that you don’t miss a beat even when the weather conditions are less than ideal, it is important to make sure that your vehicle’s tires are in tip-top shape. The condition of your tires is crucial to your vehicle’s performance and you and your passenger’s safety. Your tires have the job of providing grip on the road so that you don’t slip and slide right off. A lot of factors play into the condition of your tires, which include age, tread depth, tire pressure, and any previous damage. Below you can see how to check your tires for all of the above conditions. If you find that it’s time to replace your tires be sure to schedule a service appointment and allow our team of certified professionals to match you with the right tires for your vehicle and have them replaced in no time! Be sure to check out our service specials to see if you can save big on any fall service your vehicle needs! Checking Your Tire’s Condition & Age: Look at the tread and sidewalls for any cuts, scrapes, punctures, bulges, bumps or cracks. If you see anything suspicious, have a tire service professional take a closer look. You also want to keep an eye on your tire’s age. Depending on how much you drive, your tire’s tread may last for years but just because the tread is not worn out does not mean that your tires don’t need to be replaced To determine your tire’s age just look at the DOT stamping on the sidewall At the end of the DOT stamp, there is a four-digit code that will tell you when the tire was manufactured. Example: A code that looks like 4719 means the tire was manufactured in the 47th week of 2019. Checking Your Tire Depth: Evaluate the tread depth of your tires to make sure you have enough traction to grip the road An easy way to check you tire depth is with the Penny Test Just place a penny upside down in your tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, it may be time for new tires. Checking Your Tire Pressure: Use a tire pressure gauge to make sure your tires are properly inflated and then fill your tires with air as needed Your owners manual will have the proper PSI for your tires To check your pressure, remove the valve stem cap, press the gauge head evenly onto the valve stem, use firm pressure so that the hissing sound stops Remove the gauge and read the pressure adjust as needed Service Your Mercedes-Benz Today!
